Art Nouveau, 15ct Gold Sacred Stag Saint Hubert Locket/Pendant with Diamond Cross

This wonderful and historical pendant is crafted in solid 15ct Gold and features a majestic motif of a stag head, and with a twinkling diamond cross at its centre. The pendant opens up as a locket on its reverse, with its original frames.

The focal point of a famous Christian legend, the sacred stag of St. Hubert legend which derives from the 15th century is told as follows:  

On a Good Friday morning, Hubert was hunting in the forest. As he was chasing a magnificent stag  the animal turned and Hubert saw a crucifix floating between its antlers. He heard a voice which said: "Hubert unless thou turnest to the Lord and leadest a holy life, thou shalt quickly go down into Hell."
Hubert renounced hunting after having his vision, and when Hubert became a priest, clergy were subsequently forbidden to hunt and if they did, would be required to do penance. 

The locket measures a diameter of 2.7 cm, and weighs 10.28g. It is hallmarked with its makers mark: CM, the letter 'A' and a very rubbed assay mark which i cannot make out!  It has been tested for 15ct Gold.
